Submission Guidelines

What do we accept?

We accept submissions of practically any song or artist to be featured on the site, which means: artists of any race, religion, sex, gender, sexuality and age, and songs of any time period and genre. We also want to note that we accept songs about issues and events from any time period, from the present day to well into the past, as long as it is speaking up against social injustice and has the power to educate, as we believe it is important to learn our history and learn from our history.

Songs and artists can be famous worldwide or have just a few plays on SoundCloud; they can also be in any language, however we will ask you to provide a translation and/or translation resources for your song/artist if you make a foreign language submission.

No issue is too big or too small, as long as it is part of the battle for empowerment, equality and peace!

What is not accepted on RR?

At Revolution Radio, we do not support and will not post content relating to or supporting:

  • Neo-Nazism and the alt-right

  • Unchecked conspiracy theories or songs deemed to be spreading misinformation

  • Holocaust/slavery denial or similar

  • Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or prejudice of any kind

Songs that promote any of these ideals run directly against our beliefs and will not be accepted on to the site.

Please do not use our site for recruitment or for self-promotion unless, of course, your music fits into our submission guidelines.

For advice on making sure your submissions are accepted, read below.

How can I make sure my submission gets posted?

Although we are happy to research the songs and artists you will have lovingly submitted, there is only currently a very small team behind the site, so the more information you can provide, the better! Quotes and/or lyrics must be submitted for a successful submission, but if you can, please also try to provide:

  • Sources or evidence for artist quotes (for artist submissions)

  • Links to or names of websites, information sources, petitions, charities.etc relevant to the issue your selected song or artist has spoken up about

Please try to be informative but brief; we will add links to further information about your submission so you don't have to worry about explaining them in detail.

Please also try to avoid platitudes: songs that carry a pro-equality sentiment but do not particularly refer to any issue or suggest action may not be accepted as quickly as we wait for further information about the artist's activism. We want this site to be a source of information, inspiration and knowledge, not just goodwill. If you are unsure, submit the artist of the song and add the song in the 'Key songs' section as an example of their allyship. That being said, all submitted songs will be examined and we will try to feature as many as we can!

Do I use the Song or Artist form for my submission?

You can submit a song individually, or you can submit an artist themselves to be promoted.

Please use the Song submission form if:

  • You have a particular song you would like to submit, or songs by a variety of artists (1 song at a time)

  • You have submitted an artist or seen an artist submission, and would like to draw attention to one or more of their songs to flesh out their entry on the site (1 song at a time)

Please use the Artist submission form if:

  • You would like to submit an artist that has written a variety of songs about a variety of issues - you can then submit the songs individually using the Song submission form

  • An artist is openly vocal about social justice issues but does not include them in their music - we want to promote artists that are allies to good causes!

Will I get credited for my submission? How will my data be used?

Every time you submit a song or artist, you will have the option to add your own personal take on the song/artist in the form of a quote, along with your name (first name only), age, and location. While we will ask for the aforementioned personal information for demographic purposes, it will not be shared anywhere else or with any other sites or organisations.

If you choose to add a personal comment, it will be featured alongside your submitted song or artist to give added scope to its entry on the site and also give you credit! By default your personal comment will be attributed to you on the site using the information you have supplied; however, there is also the option to have your comment featured anonymously if you so wish - just check the box at the end of the submission form if you do not want your comment to be publicly attributed to you.

Thank you for all of your submissions, for helping us to build our catalogue of information and inspiration, and for being part of the RR community.
